"Add a sales dashboard" is easy advice and a vague instruction. The useful version is widget-by-widget: which specific cards, charts, and tables to add, and in what order, so the dashboard actually answers "how are we doing today" in under ten seconds.
Widget 1: Revenue KPI Card
Top-left, always. A single number for gross or net revenue over your chosen period, with a period-over-period comparison badge so a drop is visible immediately rather than requiring you to check yesterday's number separately.
Widget 2: Order Count and Average Order Value
Placed next to revenue because the three numbers explain each other — if revenue is flat but AOV is up and order count is down, that's a very different story than flat revenue with both metrics steady.
Widget 3: Sales Trend Chart
A line or bar chart of daily sales over the last 30–90 days. This is where you catch a slow bleed that a single KPI number would hide — a gradual decline reads as "normal" day-to-day but is obvious once plotted.
Widget 4: Sales by Channel
If you sell through more than one channel (online store, POS, wholesale), a channel breakdown chart shows which one is actually driving growth versus which one is flat or declining.
Widget 5: Recent Orders Table
A filterable table of the most recent orders — useful for spotting a spike in refunds or an unusual order pattern before it shows up in the aggregate KPIs.
Arranging the Widgets
Put the numbers you check daily at the top, trend charts in the middle, and detail tables at the bottom. That order matches how people actually scan a page — headline number first, context second, drill-down last. SnapDash's drag-and-drop editor lets you rearrange all of this without touching code once it's on the canvas.
"Once we had revenue, AOV, and the channel breakdown on one screen, our weekly sales call went from twenty minutes of screen-sharing spreadsheets to two minutes of looking at one page."
